I don't know about you, but for me accessories are what usually "make" my outfit! I'm not a real flashy dresser, but I do love me some pretty accessories. With Valentine's Day approaching I thought I would help you accessorize your outfit on your special date :) There are so many to choose from!

Owls are so popular right now and look great hanging from a long rustic silver chain.

For those of you who like chunkier jewelry with a pop of color, this necklace just might be for you :)

This necklace is one of my favorites. It can be worn as a necklace or a broach! Its a great staple in my wardrobe.

This brass locket is also a personal favorite of mine! Not only to I love the look of it, but I love that it can fit pictures of my kids.

It's not even the new year yet, but in the design world you have to be one step ahead, LOL, so here is a sneak peek of one of my designs for Valentine's Day! I wanted to do something different than your typical Valentine's Day colors so I went with gold as my accent color. I LOVE how it looks with the dark pink and beads paired with Sweet & Dainty's plush heart hair accessory :) I'm taking pre-orders now but will have it posted in my shop on New Year's Day!

Breakfast at Tiffany's Inspired Collection

I cannot express how much I LOVE this collection! It was inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's. With the holidays approaching, I couldn't think of anything better to showcase than pearls!

I wanted to have a couple SHOW STOPPING pieces within the collection and different price points so everyone can enjoy. Ruby Blue designed the beautiful flower/brooch pendants as well as the headbands.

Getting Ready for Christmas!

Just finishing up some commercial photo shoots before it gets too cold! We just had our first snow and got 12 inches! Our power was out for 3 days! I guess the only positive is that I was able to capture these beautiful photos that made it look more like a winter wonderland :)

The boots are from Ross & Rosies Designs on Etsy. The headband is from Little Addie's Boutique on Etsy. I got the adorable ivory fur coat at Old Navy :)

This Christmas dress by Love Baby J is so whimsical! I love everything about it.

I know, its been awhile! I feel like I haven't sewn anything in forever, let alone share it here on my blog that at one time was a crafting blog. I'd really like to get back into it! I had so much fun making this dress for Hayden. I think it looks so adorable on her and is perfect for fall!

I made this one of a kind owl necklace the other night and it didn't sell, so I was MORE than HAPPY to keep it for my girls :) It's one of my favorite designs and goes with so many of my girls' fall wardrobe! Blooming Hairlooms made this fabulous headband. She makes beautiful hair accessories and is one of our favorite designers. These beautiful headbands just arrived for my girls in the mail from Blooming Hairlooms! I LOVE them! Sara does such AMAZING work! What I love most about these is that they actually stay on. Usually my little one ends up pulling headbands off, but not this one! She left it on all day :) I also love that they're GORGEOUS in pictures and special occasions, but can also be warn on a regular day. WOW! What a whirlwind it's been lately! We made it to the East Coast, LOL, WITHOUT our stuff, but we're settling in :) The moving company is predicting next Wednesday they'll finally deliver everything. Luckily Miss Mia thinks the empty front room is her ballet studio and doesn't seem to mind that none of our stuff is here. The good news I have to share is that I've teamed up with some AMAZINGLY TALENTED women! Divian Conner took these beautiful photos of her gorgeous daughter modeling my 4th of July necklace. She is working on two more photo shoots that will feature one of my necklaces from my Lollipops Collection coming soon! The SHOW STOPPING hat Miss Cady is wearing was made by Stephanie Jones from La Couture Amore! This woman continues to reinvent herself through each of her designs and has been such a PLEASURE to work with! Happy Mother's Day!

I meant to write this post earlier today, but ran out of time. I hope all of you ladies had a wonderful Mother's Day! I wish I would have remembered to take a picture this morning before we changed out of our church clothes, but this will do ;-) This weekend was so nice! My husband is finally done with medical school and came home this weekend. For those of my readers that don't know, my husband has been traveling around all year doing rotations at hospitals all over, and has spent the last 3 months in Puerto Rico. It is so nice to finally be all together as a family again! Yesterday was his first real day back. We got up and went out to a nice breakfast, then took the girls to the zoo. We all took a big nap when we got home! In the evening my sweet husband went with me to the mall and let me shop while he watched the girls at the little indoor playground :) Once we got the girls in bed my hub and I went outside to play darts in our driveway. I know, I know, you all are probably thinking how nerdy that sounds, but ever since my husband got a dart board for Christmas, we've been addicted. Its been a fun thing we can do together at home when the girls are asleep. This morning we went to church then went to my inlaws house for a delicious dinner. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. Oh yeah, my husband bought me the most beautiful flowers too :) I love Mother's Day, and even more, I love being Mia and Hayden's Mom :) Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

Don't ya just LOVE this cute headband? I did a trade with Cozette Couture :) I haven't had much time lately to make hair accessories for my girls and just love hers so our trade worked out great! Today Erika from little posh bebe emailed inquiring about my necklaces. Lucky for me the link to her etsy shop was at the bottom of her email, so I took a looksy :) I just about died when I saw how ADORABLE her shoes are. I noticed they are the same price as my necklaces, so I asked if she'd be interested in doing a trade. Lucky me she said yes! I ordered this sweet pair for Hayden and a pair just like them in a light turquoise blue for Mia. To be honest I want them in EVERY color she offers, especially the coral and white. Just wanted to prove to you all that I have been working on your orders and have started shipping off the MJ necklaces on backorder :) I still have quite the list to work on, but if all goes well, I hope to get them mailed off next week-that way, I can start working on some new designs. Oh, and FYI, I'll be moving to the East Coast at the beginning of June and have to have my house packed up the 3rd week in may, so I'll have to close shop once I start packing and will open again as soon as the moving company delivers our stuff! I will be designing MJ necklaces for the upcoming fall collection as well as Persnickety, so don't let my absence fool you! I am in the process of buying new beads and new colors. I'm so excited! I miss her...

This morning Melba Miller, my Nana (great grandma)passed away at 99 years old. I've loved her dearly my whole life. She was one of the most wonderful people I've ever known. The perfect example of love. She had the most amazing ability to make anyone she came in contact with feel like the most loved, important person in the world. I want to be just like her. In her 90's she flew out to Hawaii for my college graduation. She never liked to miss a party!

She was the matriarch of our family and was loved by all of us. She loved life, she never complained, and always knew how to laugh. I miss her...

Nana loved kisses. I thank my friend Michelle for capturing this moment years ago. I've always loved it.

I feel so lucky to have had her in my life for so long. I knew the day would eventually come, but you're never really prepared when it actually does. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be with her in person, but I was able to say my goodbyes to her over the phone these past few days while my mom and aunt held the phone up to her ear.

One of my favorite things was that she would always put her hand on my cheek when I would sit with her. It always made me feel safe and loved by her.

What a beautiful legacy she left behind. To have 5 generations of women-Priceless!

She loved babies and small children and would have enjoyable tea parties with Mia.

When Mia was 2, I wanted a picture of all our our hands together (Nana's, grandmas, mom's, mine, and Mia's). Nana thought I was being silly-I'm SOOO glad I had this picture taken anyway. I know this is my craft/business blog, but I just had to share a piece of what this beautiful woman means to me and how greatly she'll be missed. I emailed those of you on the MJ back order list explaining another small delay due to me going to CA for her funeral. I will be sure to work on them quickly when I return. Thanks for being so patient with me and for being so understanding. I appreciate it more than you could know.

Ditzy Dots Inspired Necklace

Stacey, one of the stylists from Vintage Couture contacted me and asked if I would design a necklace to go with their Ditsy Dots dress. Adorable dress, right? I think this necklace will be so cute with it, don't you? Its hard to tell without seeing it on, but I can envision it! Stacey said she'd send me pics once she gets it :) I tried not to use too much pink since that is the main color in the dress. I wanted to bring out the other colors going on! The Easter Bunny Came!

Happy Easter! Hope you all have had a good one. The Easter Bunny came and completely FILLED Mia and Hayden's baskets :) I think Mia's favorite part of Easter was wearing her Easter dress! She was so excited to get dressed this morning. Hayden just started hugging Mia upon request yesterday, so lucky me, I was able to capture it while they were both in their Easter dresses :) We spent the day with family friends that I've known since I was in elementary school. Great company AND food! I wish we could be back in Puerto Rico with my husband, but we're making do until he finishes up. May we all remember our Savior Jesus Christ on this Easter Sunday, the true reason for why we celebrate. *Side note* I have been working on the Matilda Jane House of Clouds back order list and will be mailing necklaces to those whom have already paid :) I will be emailing pay pal invoices to the rest of you!

I have been busy designing new necklaces since I can't get started on the MJ necklaces (still waiting on bead shipment). I bought Mia this ivory tiered dress at Baby Gap and love the vintage feel of everything put together. I also had the new Persnickety Clothing for spring in mind as well. It goes great with their Easter clothes. I got most of these beads while I was in PR so I only have enough to make maybe two more so act fast!

I'm Back! A quick Update...

I just got back from my 5 week vacation in Puerto Rico. It was WONDERFUL! I have to admit I'm a bit cranky being home, hahaa! I came home excited to open the large bead order I made just before I left (my neighbor was getting my mail)-ANYWAY, to make a long story short, my large order was never delivered! They are trying work with the post office, but in the meantime I've placed another order so I can get going on all the MJ House of Clouds backorders. Unfortunately I don't think they will be done in time for Easter :( I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though! So sorry for the delay, but know that I am working hard to get back to everyone. Yo Gabba Gabba Inspired Necklace

I just HAD to post these cute picture of Miss Mika on her first birthday! She had a Yo Gabba Gabba party and her mommy wanted me to design a necklace to go with her pink Foofa shirt. Most of my readers know that I've been getting ready all month for an upcoming Spring Boutique in California. Unfortunately I personally won't be there, but my necklaces will be :) I was asked to tag everything with my logo and price and think they turned out really cute! Thanks to my friend Amber who mailed me some more scallops, I was running out! The hole punch I have is a larger scallop and wouldn't have matched the ones I already started. I'm trying to get ready for our trip back to Puerto Rico. Hayden has grown out of all her warm weather clothes, so I'm working on making sundresses for her. I'd like to make Mia some new ones too, because I know when we get back to Arizona in a month it'll be HOT. See this cute little girl? She is the daughter of one of my customers. Her mom emailed me this picture and asked if I could make her a necklace to match this dress for her Easter basket. Her grandma made the dress. I fell in love with it and decided to make my own version. I have a lot of cute scrap fabric and this was the perfect way to put it to good use! I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I made a side zipper so it would be easier to get on and off. I didn't have a pattern so I had to just figure things out as I began sewing. My serger made sewing this dress so quick and easy! Some of my older readers might remember the jelly roll dress I made Mia last year. It was a big thorn in my side, but NOT this dress :) I love my serger, and I love this dress. Isn't it just perfect for Spring?!

Lined Swing Coat by Heidi and Finn

I finally finished! I used gray fleece for the outer fabric and Amy Butler fabric for the lining. This is my first coat and first project I tried with lining. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. This pattern runs really big, so it still is big on Mia even though I made the size 3T-4T. Hopefully it'll fit her next year!

I've been brainstorming what I'm going to put in my girls' Easter baskets this year, and decided to make this cute purse for Mia. I originally saw this purse on my friend Amber's blog Strawberry Owl Designs. I downloaded the free pattern from Made by Rae. I've been obsessed with this color scheme. For some reason it reminds me of the circus. I know, sounds weird, when I was trying to explain my vision to my mom she didn't understand what the heck I was talking about, lol. These particular necklaces just remind me of the epidomy of childhood and going to "The Big Top" you know, the circus! Eating cotton candy being surrounded by the amazing colors within that circus tent. Anyway, I'm hoping these will be popular at the Spring Boutique next month. This year I wanted to make Mia a St. Patty's Day dress she could wear anytime. I found this light weight adorable fabric about a month ago and fell in love with it. We'll be back in Puerto Rico during St. Patrick's Day so this light weight fabric will be perfect for the hot, humid weather :) I think I'll make Hayden a dress with this fabric as well, but I'm thinking more along the lines of a little sun dress. I just got a new shipment of beads in the mail today :) I've been day dreaming about making a necklace to match this dress since I ordered them. I love the way it turned out. Yellow and Bright Pink Orchid Headband

While I was in California over Valentine's weekend, I stocked up on some new flowers for Spring and Summer. I haven't ever used orchids for my clips or headbands and thought they would make a great addition. I think this headband is so fresh looking and the colors are even more vibrant in person. Hayden wore this the other day with her hair in two low pigtails-it looked SO CUTE :) I also bought pink and purple orchids all ranging in size. I'll have to post those at a later time when I have time to photograph them.

I told you I've been busy! I'm only a little over half way done. I'm trying to make each necklace different. I have some that are the same style, but I try to use different beads so they each are one of a kind. Now I look at Mia's necklaces I made her awhile ago and think she needs an upgrade! Maybe once the boutique is over I'll make her some new ones. Because my 15 month old LOVES to wear these, I made some in smaller sizes in case others would like them for their 1 year olds. OK, so I couldn't resist! I was at Joann's yesterday and all their Valentine socks were 50% off so I had to make Hayden a new pair. The ones I made her last year are getting a little small ;-) Any excuse for cuteness right? I have them layered up with tights. I also made another pair for Mia. New Chunky Beaded Necklaces for Sale $25

Just finished a couple more Valentine's Necklaces. I can't believe how popular they've become :) I thought I would make some more so they are ready to ship out now that Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I decided to make one with just pink and white beads for those of you that want something that your little girl can wear year round. Mia wears her red and pink heart necklace year round, but some people prefer a necklace that doesn't look too "Valentinesy". I am loving that the red and pink necklace looks like yummy candy! It looks so good I want to eat it! The 2 heart beads on each side remind me a heart suckers :)

I made another Butterfly Love necklace because they have definitely become a favorite. I always change some of the beads so they are never exactly the same. This one has fun orange and white striped gumball beads. I also decided to try out a bottle cap necklace. The pendant is a bottle cap with a pink crown on the front. I love black, white, and pink together. I think this one turned out SO cute! I'm tempted to keep it (like always) because Mia and Hayden don't have any like it. Just a Little Something I Whipped Up for Dinner

I have to admit, this salad tasted so good tonight! I bought some scallops at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago and have had them in my freezer. I decided to thaw them out and put them in a nice refreshing salad. I LOVE seafood! After I took this picture I decided to add sliced almonds and pomegranate infused craisins. Have you ever heard of those? I just found them at Costco the other day and love them. This salad is really easy and I love how lite it is. I'm not really one of those kind of people that follows recipes very well. I'm more of a creative cook I guess you'd say. One that looks in the fridge and sees what there is to work with. I just throw in whatever looks good. Measurements? Forget about it! hahaa...OK, here is how I made this lovely salad:

Ingredients:

Scallops

frozen shrimp (thawed under running water)

asparagus

mandarine oranges (canned)

sliced almonds

pomegranate infused craisins

romane lettuce

How to prepare it:

First I put a little Olive Oil in a frying pan and let it heat up. Next I dropped the scallops in the pan with some crushed garlic and let it cook a while. I added salt and pepper as needed. Once the shrimp were thawed, I added those to the pan as well. After about 10 minutes or so, I added the asparagus. Once they turned a brighter green I drained out most of the water and juices from the scallops and shrimp. I wanted to let it all caramelize a bit, so I let it cook until it all got lightly browned and kept stirring. I then placed the cut up romaine lettuce in a large bowl and poured the scallops, shrimp and asparagus on top. Next I added the oranges, almonds, and craisins. Pour your dressing on and stir!

Now for the dressing:

2T Olive Oil

1T White Vinegar

1T Soy Sauce

1tsp. sugar

ENJOY!!

Jill wanted a Valentine necklace for herself using a lot of the same type of beads I used on my toddler Valentine's necklaces, but she wanted it to look more grown up, so this is what I came up with. I used a glass heart pendant instead of a plastic one (its also bigger) and used some larger metal spacer beads. She wanted a long necklace so I thought adding a double chain would make it look more sophisticated and stylish. It looks even cuter in person!

Chunky Beaded Necklaces for Toddlers & Little Girls

As you can tell, I've been on a jewelry making kick! Who doesn't love a fun chunky beaded necklace on a cute little girl? Mia has been wearing these since she was 2 years old and always gets attention when she wears them. I haven't seen anything like these on etsy or online when I googled, so I thought I would share them with you and let you know you can order them from me :)

I have to admit, its really hard not to keep them all for my girls after I'm done making them! Mia wants to keep them all. She especially likes the first one (so I'll probably make her one, lol).

These last two are the ones I made for Mia. The cupcakes are handmade by me. I sell these as well, but each one is one of a kind so I'll have to bake up a batch of cupcake beads and get to work so you too can have one of these beauties for your lil' cupcake!

Mia was so excited when I made this bracelet. I just might have to make one for her now. This is ready to ship out. The toggle makes it a little more sturdy for the little ones. It measures 16 inches. These chunky beads look so cute on little girls! Mia gets tons of compliments and attention every time she wears her chunky necklaces. I decided to give the zipper another go, and it was so much EASIER the second time around :) Mia was not thrilled to take pictures today. This was right after our outing to Trader Joe's and she was eager to get inside to watch Wow Wow Wubbzy. This skirt is a lot cuter in person than in these rushed pictures. The waistband is the orange butterfly print by Sandy Henderson. The same one I used on the border of her apron dress http://miamoodesigns.blogspot.com/2010/07/my-first-apron-dress.html. (I'm not sure why, but blogger hasn't been letting me add links by pasting the link in the link box. It only lets me paste the link on my direct post. Anyone else having this problem? Back to the skirt-Its really cute with tights and boots, but I think it'll be cute without them when it heats up. I made this one a little longer so it will fit her next year too :)

I love that Mia can still wear her cute summer sundresses in the winter with a little layering! I found these cute red converse on clearance at Target the other day just in time for Valentine's Day :) I've been going through her closet to find things she can wear with them and came across this sundress I made her in the summer. Doesn't it look so cute with jeans and a t-shirt? I wish I could look as cute as her everyday!

Homemade Sugar Scrub for Your Hands

Remember the amazing neighbor I made cookies for? Well, she watched my girls for me yesterday and I wanted to make her a little something to say thank you. I found this homemade sugar scrub over at http://thegainesgang4.blogspot.com/2010/04/garden-hand-scrub.html . It is soooo EASY, INEXPENSIVE, and CUTE for a thank you gift, Mother's Day gift, etc. Literally, all it is, is sugar and Dawn soap. I used the Pomegranate Splash scent with Olay in it. There are other homemade recipes for sugar scrub out there, but this one is the easiest and the least amount of ingredients.

I bought the mason jars at WalMart. It came with 4 jars and was about $3.75 I think. To make it complete, I tied a bow with ribbon and made a cute little label. Hope you enjoy this as much as me :) I made some for myself as well and I think I'm in love!

MiaMoo Designs Apron Skirt

I ordered this fabric with an apron skirt in mind, and finally made it yesterday. You can't tell in the picture because her shirt is covering it, but the waistband is made with the green polka dot fabric by Amy Butler. Its a pretty thick waistband and I added a zipper in the back. I need to make a few more skirts with zippers before I decide whether or not I'd like to put them in my boutique to sell. I didn't use a pattern for this skirt. I just used her waist measurements and measured out long I wanted it and how big I wanted the apron. I can make the skirts pretty quickly, but I'm still new with the zippers. I LOVE the way it turned out. I hope to find a cream long sleeve top to go with it so I can applique the trees on the front. Whenever I go to Target or Walmart I can never seem to find long sleeve shirts. Maybe I should try Old Navy. I also would like to make her a headband to match :) I'll post pics if I ever get around to it!

New Dress and Flower Clip for Hayden

I used this fabric on a dress for Mia months ago and finally got around to making one for Hayden. I decided to add a front pouch pocket this time :) I also made a matching pink and brown hair flower. I have enough of this fabric on hand to make one more dress if anyone is interested. I just posted it in my boutique. I can make size 3-6 mos up to size 5T. Did you all have a good New Year's Eve? My hub and I went to Cafe Rio with some friends for dinner then went back to their house for games. I know, exciting right? We all had our kids with us so it was perfect. Mia and Hayden were little rockstars and stayed up the whole time. We've been lounging around ever since to get caught up on our sleep and get back on schedule. It has been so cold these past few days, so I haven't really taken my camera out much. Yesterday evening didn't feel quite as cold so I was thrilled to take Hayden in our backyard for a little photo shoot :)

I have decided to pass on the Etsy shop for now, and create a MiaMoo Designs Boutique Blog instead where I will post the things I'm selling with prices. I'd like to see how that goes first-plus its free :) I've linked it to my sidebar-but I don't have anything for sale just yet, and haven't really designed a header yet. It's a work in progress, but I think it will be easier for my readers and anyone interested in my designs to see what is for sale in an organized way with prices, etc. I can't tell you how many times I've had people see Mia or Hayden wearing something I've made and ask if I have a website so they can see what I have to choose from. Even though I post all my designs on this blog, its not really in a format that is easy for someone that is looking to buy a particular item. I'm just curious, if I were to make up some dresses/skirts to post for sale, what sizes would any of you be interested in? Tiny baby? Toddler? 5T? I was thinking of making some items that are good for baby shower gifts such as nursing covers, burp cloth sets, diaper caddies, dresses, appliqued onesies, along with my hair accessories for all ages. What do you think? If there is anything you've seen that you would like me to make again and post, please let me know. As for now, its all kind of a guessing game! I have paypal now, so I can just email you an invoice :)
