New Camera Strap

I made myself a new camera strap, yay! It was so fast and easy to make- Uh-Oh, I may have found a new addiction...I'm thinking about selling these, so if any of you are interested, let me know! I just posted a few new things down below so be sure to scroll down. I'm trying to make up for my lack of posts lately!

Strawberry Pincushion

Photobucket
I bought Heather Bailey's Strawberry Pincushion Pattern around Christmas time and finally got around to making it. Isn't it just the CUTEST? I think I'm in love :) It's cute hanging on my machine, or I can hang it from my scissors. I have several of Heather Bailey's pincusion patterns so I need to get busy and make them all. Wouldn't they make cute gifts for sewing friends? On the little flower I added swarovski crystals since I don't know how to do french knots like the pattern suggested. I think I like the crystals better! A little bling is always a good thing, don't you think?

Dress with Flutter Sleeves

This picture DEFINITELY doesn't give this dress justice! Its much CUTER on, but I figured I better just post it since I haven't posted anything this week. Its really throwing me off not to have MY computer working. I think that's why I haven't been posting as much because the projects haven't slowed down. I am going to add two front pockets to this dress using the same fabric as the sleeves. I'm in love with this Heather Bailey print. I hope to post some new things soon, so check back later!

Orange Crush

I made this necklace to go with Mia's apron dress. It matches perfectly! I'm addicted to making these cute cupcake beads. There are so many different combinations you can use. Right now I'm really liking this orange cupcake-hence the title of my post ;-)
I used fire swarovski crystals forthe sprinkles. I think chunky necklaces are so cute for toddlers and little girls. They make great birthday gifts too :) It seems like Mia is at the age where she's getting invited to a lot of birthday parties, so I'm going to add these necklaces to the list of possible gifts she can give. I mentioned a giveaway in my last post, and I'm thinking about giving away one of these cute cupcake beads. I need to bake up another batch to decide which one I like best. Before choosing the cupcake bead for the giveaway, I need to know-is this something you all would enjoy as a giveaway? Let me know, and if so I'll get right to it! Thanks to all my readers :)

Chunky Cupcake Necklace

Some of my older readers may remember the cupcake necklace I made Mia for Christmas using a cupcake bead from Bead Divas I bought while in AZ over the summer. Anyway-I had no idea how easy these cute cupcake beads are to make. I used white clay for the frosting then painted over it with pink glitter nail polish. I used red swarovski crystals for the sprinkles. The pink and red together reminds of me Strawberry Shortcake, so I call this her Strawberry Shortcake necklace.
I decided to make Mia's BFF a matching cupcake so her mommy can make her a necklace. Luckily I already had all the beads for Mia's necklace so it didn't cost any extra for me to make it. I have to admit, I'm addicted to making these cute beads now! I've made several different colors, so if any of you are interested in these little beauties let me know! I've had to upload these pictures on my husband's computer that doesn't have photoshop so I was unable to put my watermark on these. Hopefully MY computer will be up and running soon!

I HATE My Computer!

I think my computer is on its last leg. I seem to keep getting viruses and have problems with Windows opening up and my computer keeps freezing up. Its so frustrating. I have some fun things to post that I'm really excited about, but I have to wait until I get this computer figured out. Please keep checking back, i'm going to see if I can at least get some pics uploaded on another computer or something. I just wanted to give you the heads up so you didn't think I was ignoring you all! I also feel a giveaway coming on :) xo-Katie

My First Dress with Sleeves

I'm not sure why, but the thought of sewing sleeves on a dress used to intimidate me. WHY? Who knows because they aren't hard at all! And how fabulous is this Amy Butler fabric? You can't tell by the picture, but Mia really does love this dress ;-) I made another one today with flutter sleeves that I'll post once I try it on her. Heres to getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things! Cheers :)

My First Apron Dress

I bought this fabric a few months ago and have been too afraid to cut into it. I've layed it out several times to see how I want it to look, and finally I decided to go for it! I couldn't be happier with the result :) I think this is my favorite dress I've made so far. I saw a little apron top using these fabrics and just KNEW I had to make a similar dress for Mia. Mia loves butterflies so I wanted to showcase the butterfly fabric by using as a thick border. I may add the pom pom trim to the apron later, but for now I'm happy with the way it looks without it. I also might add a fabric rosette to the chest band. I'll be sure to take pictures if I change anything. I didn't use a pattern, I just kind of figured things out for myself as I cut into it. A lot of the apron dresses I've seen out there have an apron that is too narrow for my liking, so I wanted to make sure I made Mia's a little wider. You can't tell from the pictures, but the straps tie in knots on the top of her shoulders. I will also be making a smaller version of this dress for Miss Hayden. I'm just trying to figure out how to change up the fabric order so it's not identical to her big sister's. Didn't this dress work out perfectly for Mia's 4 year portraits? I couldn't be happier.

Now the question is, do I create a tutorial for this dress??? Would love some feedback!

Girl Scout T-Shirt Dress

This morning I made Mia a new play dress. She LOVES the ones I've made her so far, partly because they're so soft and comfy, and partly because she loves the graphics on them. I tried something new with this one. Instead of using three shirts, I actually cut off the bottom of one of her dresses that is too small to use for the skirt part of the dress. I especially love the ruffles, and love that they were already there even more! Less work for me-BONUS!

This one fits a little looser and longer so she'll have room to grow. The sundresses I make for her are still my favorite, but on days when we need to throw something on quickly to take Daddy to school, for quiet time, and playtime, these t-shirt dresses are the BEST! I made my first apron dress last night that turned out DARLING, but still need to get some pictures of Mia wearing it so I can post about it. I think I'll set a day aside to take her 4 year portraits in it. Stay tuned!

Obsessed with Mustard Yellow Lately

I'm not sure why, but lately I've been obsessed with mustard yellow. I found this CUTE wallet at Target during my trip home :) For those of you who don't live in Puerto Rico-Imagine living without a Target...It's HORRIBLE! You can only imagine how nice it is for me to make trips back to the States and hit up the ever so missed Target. Tonight I made this mustard felt flower. I imagine clipping it to a brown headband for Hayden, using it as a clip for Mia, and wearing it in my own hair as well :) It's great having girls to share accessories with!

Have a Happy 4th!

Mia was cooperative this afternoon and let me take some 4th of July pictures of her to post.
I hope you're all having a relaxing 4th of July weekend! Its so sad being in Puerto Rico for the 4th because there is no sign of patriotism. Some friends of ours had a fun little BBQ with games for the kids and face painting to make PR seem more patriotic. We'll see if anyone sets off fireworks tomorrow night. I love fireworks! I made Mia a red flower clip to go wtih her stars and stripes dress my mom got her last year. Its a size 3T and is still too big for her. I think she'll be able to wear it next 4th of July when she's 5. I love the dress so I won't mind at all if it still fits next year :)

Sorry! I've been out of town...

Here are a few gifts I made just before my trip. One of my dearest friends is having her first girl and I was able to see her cute pregnant self during my visit :)
Mia wanted a mermaid towel so I made her one for her birthday with a flower clip to match (it mostly just looked cute attached to the gift). I still need to add ribbon to trim the fabric, but didn't have time. I should have told you all that I was going out of town for a few weeks-I'm sorry. Hopefully I still have readers! I promise, now that I'm home I'll be getting my craft on!
